The Better Air Schools program piloted at Barnwell Elementary in north Fulton County in 2004, and the school continues to enjoy success. A newer addition, Fairington Elementary, became the first DeKalb County School to partner with us in 2007. Read below for details on their success.
Fairington Elementary in Lithonia signed on as the first Better Air School in the DeKalb County School system in January 2007, after hosting a BAIR performance and using The Clean Air Campaign lesson plans during the 2006-2007 school year.
Metro Atlanta commuters aren't the only ones grappling with choking traffic - schools deal with their own traffic jams every day. At Barnwell Elementary, the line of vehicles stretches beyond school property, contributing to congestion in an area that already experiences a lot of traffic. Not only is this inconvenient, it is also a safety concern for the school, causes student tardiness, and requires a significant amount of staff time to monitor.
