Transit Systems

There are five main transit systems in the metro Atlanta area, currently serving 12 counties.

Dozens of other counties across the state provide public transit services as well.

MARTA, The Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority

MARTA serves Fulton and DeKalb counties through a bus and rail system that averages weekdayy ridership on MARTA of 461,000.* MARTA maps are available online or at any station. MARTA Breeze

MARTA stations now look a little different this year as the organization has implemented its new state-of-the-art smart card fare collection system, Breeze. All buses and rail stations are now using the "smart card" system, making it the first transit system in the nation - and among the first in the world - to achieve this milestone.

C-Tran

The C-Tran local bus service serves Clayton County and links to the MARTA rail service at the Airport Station. Buses operate Monday through Friday from 5:00 a.m. - midnight. Saturday services run from 6:00 a.m. - midnight; Sunday 7 a.m. - 10 p.m..

Gwinnett County Transit

Gwinnett County Transit provides express buses along six routes using the HOV lanes on I-85. Monday through Friday, buses depart from three separate Park & Ride lots to various locations in downtown Atlanta, and return to Gwinnett County. Buses pick up and drop off at the MARTA Five Points and Arts Center stations.

Xpress

Xpress is a regional express commuter service that now serves 12 metro Atlanta counties. Operating under agreement with the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) and in conjunction with other local transit services, this services provides a comfortable and efficient ride to downtown and midtown Atlanta.

The buc

The buc provides free shuttle service to employees, visitors and residents of the Buckhead area. The buc was made possible by the Buckhead CID, the Buckhead TMA (BATMA) and the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA). The buc provides shuttle services from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m., Monday - Friday. Saturday services runs from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m.; Piedmont service ends at 7 p.m.

CCT, Cobb Community Transit

CCT is a bus system that serves Cobb County, linking to MARTA at the Arts Center Station, the Dunwoody Station and the Holmes Station.
