Vanpool Incentive Program

Most vanpools are started at a worksite by a group of interested employees or tenants who live near each other and share a similar schedule. The Clean Air Campaign and the region's TMAs provide a number of incentives to save you money by offsetting the costs of starting and operating a vanpool.

  • New Rider Referral: By referring a friend or co-worker, riders may receive cash. Individuals that refer a new vanpool rider receive $50 after the new rider has completed three consecutive months on a vanpool; $75 if the new rider becomes the primary vanpool driver.

Tax benefits may also be available through the federal Commuter Choice program. Employees can use up to $115 per month in pre-tax income toward vanpool expenses. Employers can choose to provide the expense to the employees as a tax-free fringe benefit, or a combination of employee and employer funds can be used.
